description This study investigated the research training opportunities offered in accredited Australian counselling courses. A desktop review of 90 accredited counselling qualifications across 44 institutions was conducted, focusing on the inclusion of named research methodology and project subjects. Results indicate a wide variation of exposure to specific research methodology and project subjects, depending on the level of study and specific course chosen. Students who study courses offering insufficient research training and production may require additional bridging studies to be eligible for doctoral studies. Recommendations are provided.
