description This paper looks into cross border migrations from the scope of the social differences they unveil. It focuses on the case of two French migrants having left Lille’s surroundings to settle in Belgian border cities. The first part shows that the meaning and social value of migrations vary according to the social class of migrants. This social distinction is then used to expose inequalities in the way people can access European space. To conclude, cross border migrations between France and Belgium, far from being an homogeneous flux, show the unequal access border citizens have to the European area.
