Description
Summary:Since the introduction of the communicative approach, foreign language didactics has based teaching methodology on the assumption of a close likeness with communication in natural situations. While this has been achieved as far as written comprehension is concerned, the situation is quite different for listening comprehension: what happens in the classroom has little to do with natural listening. Teaching practise is often based on segmentation and replay and does not emulate the fugacity of natural speech. This raises the issue of teaching procedures which would take the specificity of speech into account in order to help learners develop listening strategies with instant reactivity.
