Description
Summary:High bound acrylonitrile content nitrile rubber and ultra-high bound acrylonitrile content nitrile rubber were synthesized by low temperature emulsion polymerization. The effects of main factors on the reaction process, microgel content and Mooney viscosity of raw rubber were investigated by controlling variable, the bound acrylonitrile content was determined by element analyzer. The results indicated that using an acrylonitrile feed ratio of 45% (mass fraction, the same below) during the synthesis process enabled the rubber to meet the high-nitrile standard for bound acrylonitrile content. The higher the reaction temperature, the faster the reaction rate, and the higher the microgel content of the resulting raw rubber. Specifically, the microgel contents of the raw rubber obtained at 5-7 ℃, 9-10 ℃ and 12-13 ℃ were 0.99%, 6.02% and 16.53%, respectively. The more the amount of initiator, the higher the microgel content of the resulting raw rubber. Compared with diisopropylbenzene hydroperoxide, the polymerization with p-menthan hydroperoxide as initiator had a faster reaction rate, but the microgel content in the resulting raw rubber was also higher. Increasing the amount of tertiary dodecyl mercaptan could speed up the reaction process, while reducing the microgel content of the raw rubber. The Mooney viscosity of raw rubber showed a linear negative correlation with the amount of tertiary dodecyl mercaptan in the range of 0.72-0.96 phr (by mass).
