Description
Summary:The Integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in language learning has gained attention for its ability to provide personalized instruction, enhance assessment, and facilitate interaction. This study explores Pre-Service English Teachers’ (PSET) perceptions of AI use in a teacher education program in Mexico, focusing on the AI applications they use. Using a mixed-methods approach, data were collected form 104 PSETs via a structured questionnaire and semi-structured interviews with eight-participants. Findings indicate that students generally have a positive experience with AI tools, valuing their efficiency and feedback. Most use a single category of AI tools for various tasks. However, concerns regarding AI’s influence on learning, privacy issues, and the absence of clear guidelines were raised. These insights can inform the development of strategies for integrating AI tools into English BA programs.
