Summary:The purpose of this article is to study the displacements of street vending at the intra-urban scale by analyzing and comparing the public policies implemented, in the situation of the Mexican democratization, in three areas of the metropolis of Mexico City: the historic center, the municipality of Tlalnepantla and the municipality of Tultepec. It describes and compares the three policies towards street vending analyzing the processes of decision, negotiation and relocation. It illustrates a model of public action regarding street vending, but different styles of local public action in the three study cases because of the specific configuration of the local actors.
