Assessing the Impact of Varied Organic Manures and Biofertilizers on the Growth, Yield and Economic Feasibility of Fenugreek (Trigonella foenum-graecum L.) Cultivation

Fenugreek (Trigonella foenum-graecum L.) is an important leguminous herb, as it has medicinal and nutritional benefits. The research examines the impact of organic manures (farmyard manure, vermicompost, poultry manifold) and biofertilizers on its growth, yield, and economic feasibility. In a random...

description Fenugreek (Trigonella foenum-graecum L.) is an important leguminous herb, as it has medicinal and nutritional benefits. The research examines the impact of organic manures (farmyard manure, vermicompost, poultry manifold) and biofertilizers on its growth, yield, and economic feasibility. In a randomized block design, parameters such as plant height, branch number, leaf area, seed yield, and biomass production were tested using field experiments. Organic manures mixed with biofertilizers were found to significantly improve growth and yield over conventional control. Vermicompost + Azotobacter was responsible for the highest yield and biomass. Economic analysis has shown organic treatments to have higher net returns and benefit-cost ratios than synthetic fertilizers, making them more sustainable. By incorporating organic manure and biofertilizers, soil quality is improved, environmental impact is reduced, and fenugreek cultivation can become profitable.
