Description
Summary:Amateur youth theater is an important social institution for the realization of creative potential, access to cultural values and benefits. The hybridization of organizational forms of cultural products in modern society leads to the fact that the boundaries between leisure and professional creativity are blurred: amateurs play performances on the professional stage, tour, receive a fee. Does such an institution remain amateur or is it already a professional team? With all the importance of objective criteria, the self-identification of the actors of such a theater is of great importance. For analysis, the case of the Youth Folk Theater "Game" from Yekaterinburg, a successful and modern team with a stable troupe, a constant repertoire, victories and participation in prestigious cultural events, was selected. The purpose of the study: to characterize the motivation for classes in amateur theater in the assessments of actors. Key research question: what is the main thing for amateur theater participants - communication/socialization or art/creativity? Exploratory design is an online survey with a large number of open questions in the theater's internal Telegram chat. The reachability of the sample is 83%, the answers are narrative. The method of empirical data analysis is the identification of key values. The study showed that, in the opinion of artists, the theater is the most important tool for dealing with stress, complexes, a channel for personal growth, and the development of professional skills. Artists learn breathing, stage speech, voice control, but at the same time - friendship and love. The identity of the actors is ambivalent - schoolchildren and students, working youth who are not professional artists, who do not receive appropriate education, behave and feel like professional theater artists, for them these are not “circle” activities. In the perception of the actors, "Game" is an amateur theater, but young people receive professional training in the theater, master corporate values, and are responsible for the product. The strength of the modern amateur theater lies precisely in this contradiction - having the status of an amateur group without formal barriers to entry, the theater provides a favorable and psychological atmosphere, and professional performances. The development of soft skills (empathy, communication, teamwork, critical thinking, time management, etc.) is actively formed in the amateur theater. But this happens in an environment focused on a professional product, which implies responsible behavior of team members.
