Description
Summary:The issue of “cultural ambassadors“ broadly follows the issue of cultural diplomacy. There are institutionalized and non-institutionalized “cultural ambassadors“, just as there are “cultural ambassadors“ nominated and funded as such by states, and there are de facto cultural ambassadors, who often represent the country and culture they come from without any government funding, sometimes being dissidents of the regime in power in the country they come from. The title “Cultural Ambassador“ does not exist as an official designation. It is a concept dominated by confusion, there are “cultural ambassadors“ nominated by local authorities, associations or national authorities. There is no direct link between the size or wealth of a country and the notoriety of its “cultural ambassadors“, the field of culture being the place where the small and poor can play in the same league as the big, rich and powerful.
