Summary: | The article outlines the theoretical basis of the concept of "business culture" and presents an overview of available research on the peculiarities of the Ukrainian and Russian mentality (character), which form the prerequisites for the development of entrepreneurship. The methodology and results of an empirical comparative study of the maturity of business culture in Ukraine and Russia are outlined. The research was conducted based on the information base of the international sociological research project World Values Survey (WVS), which is based on surveys, that study people’s values and their impact on the social and cultural life of individual countries. This approach ensured the proper objectivity and impartiality of the obtained research results. To conduct a comparative study of the maturity of the business culture of entrepreneurship, an evaluation system was formed, which includes 21 evaluation objects, grouped into 4 components: 1) basic values (independence, security, equality); 2) ethical values (justification (perception) of unjust enrichment, appropriation of property, violence); 3) personal values (importance of family, friends, work, free time, politics); 4) economic values (recognition of the possibility of obtaining high entrepreneurial income and business development based on hard work, understanding the positives of the development of competition; giving priority to the development of private property over the state, personal economic responsibility over social dependence). The article presents the results of evaluations for the specified objects, and based on them, the group and integral comparative maturity indices of business culture Ukraine-Russia are calculated. The conducted research made it possible to identify the differences in the value system of the citizens of these countries, which was confirmed by the calculated integral index of the comparative maturity of their business cultures. The identified differences confirm the presence in Ukraine of better (compared to Russia) valuable prerequisites for the development of mature socially responsible entrepreneurship and its future successful development |
