description This study examines the motivations of retirees in Turkey to return to work after retirement, the economic challenges they face, and the impact of this process on their quality of life through a quantitative research approach. The research was conducted with 47 retired individuals in Samsun using the snowball sampling method during November and December 2023. Data were collected using the "Working Retirees Situation Analysis Interview Form" developed by the researchers and analyzed using SPSS software. Findings indicate that the insufficiency of retirement incomes (63.8%) and economic crises (83%) play a decisive role in retirees' decisions to re-enter the workforce. Additionally, 68.09% of working retirees cited economic reasons, while 8.51% returned to work to secure their children's future. Demographic data revealed that 97% of participants were male, and the highest age group was 70 years and above (27.65%). These results highlight the necessity to enhance the economic sustainability of retirement systems, provide flexible work opportunities, and develop social support programs. Furthermore, it is concluded that retirement policies should be redesigned to consider demographic differences and changes in the labor market. This study provides valuable insights for policymakers to address the economic and social needs of retirees and fills a gap in the existing literature.
