| Summary: | In order to study the mechanical properties of flexible steel sheds under rockfall impact, a computational mechanical model of flexible steel sheds under rockfall impact was established. The boundary slipping condition of the system was considered emphatically, and the dynamic behavior of the flexible steel shed under rockfall impact with different impact energies was studied by the explicit dynamic analysis method. The results show that (1) with the increase of impact energy, the maximum impact force increases, but the increasing trend decreases gradually. The rockfall impact process can be divided into two stages: the loading stage and the unloading stage, and the unloading stiffness of the system is greater than the loading stiffness; (2) the main energy-consuming components of the shed are steel bracing, steel arch frame, and energy dissipator, among which the steel bracing consumes the most energy, while the net and support cable almost dissipate no energy; (3) in the design of the shed bearing, the bearing resistance to pull, compression, and shear should be considered at the same time; (4) compared to the original flexible steel shed, the optimized flexible steel shed reduces 52% of the rockfall maximum impact force under the same rockfall impact energy, and its energy consumption distribution is more reasonable and easier to maintain. This study provides a theoretical basis for the design and optimization of flexible steel sheds, as well as an important reference value for the practical application of rockfall protection projects. The flexible steel shed can be used in rockfall-prone areas along railways and motorways. |
