description China is entering a stage of rapid population aging. Due to its large population base and the one-child policy implemented for over 30 years, the country is aging faster than most others, with a higher number of elderly people and more pressing elderly care challenges. Traditional home care is no longer sustainable, which increases the need for long-term care. China began exploring long-term care with the introduction of the "Long-Term Medical Care Insurance System" in Qingdao in 2012. In 2016, pilot cities were initiated in 15 regions, expanding to 49 cities in September 2020 following a directive issued for further expansion. However, there is still no unified long-term care system at the national level, and no long-term care law has been established to provide a legal safeguard. Although everyone may eventually require long-term care, given the current coverage of China's longterm care system, this paper focuses on the elderly. The purpose of this paper is to review the development and problems of China's long-term care system over the past ten years. It will address two questions: What is the current status of China's long-term care, and what are the concerns surrounding its long-term care system?
