Description
Summary:The inclusion of the elderly in the labor market is usually polarized between stereotyped representati-ons and others that highlight the outstanding advan-tages of this group. The objective of this study was to analyze the content of the social representations of Chilean employees and employers on the labor inclusion of people over 55 years of age. A qualita-tive case study was carried out by means of 45 se-mi-structured interviews with workers and emplo-yers, followed by a thematic content analysis of the data obtained. Five thematic areas were identified: social representation of working PM, facilitators for the inclusion of PM at work, barriers to the in-clusion of PM at work, health and inclusion of PM at work, and safety and inclusion of PM at work. In conclusion, the inclusion of PM in the workplace needs to be rethought in society, given the diversity of experiences and knowledge that this social group can contribute to companies, in the current context of the accelerated aging of societies, as is the case in Chile.
