Description
Summary:Abstract The material of the article provides a scientific evaluation of the feasibility of using beams with corrugated walls in the passenger rail car frame structure. Such a decision will allow to reduce the material amount of the passenger rail car sprung mass while maintaining the conditions of strength and operational reliability. Existing versions of beams with corrugated walls are analysed. The most rational version of such a beam for use in the passenger rail car frame structure has been determined. To substantiate this implementation, appropriate calculations were made on the example of a passenger rail car body with a backbone beam. The results of the conducted research established that the proposed implementation is appropriate and helps to reduce the maximum stresses in the passenger rail car frame by 4.4% compared with its typical implementation. This is achieved by increasing the moment of resistance of the backbone beam cross-section by 11% compared to a typical profile while reducing its mass by almost 8%. Modal analysis of the load-bearing structure of the passenger rail car and checking the static deflections of the spring sets of the bogies were also carried out as a part of the study. It was established that the calculated indicators do not exceed the normative values. The conducted research will contribute to the creation of recommendations for the design of modern structures of passenger rail cars with improved technical, economic and operational characteristics.
