description An environmentally benign and sustainable substitute for traditional chemical procedures is the biological synthesis of silver nanoparticles(AgNPs) from natural sources such as plant extracts. The study focuses on the environmentally sustainable synthesis of AgNPs for antibacterial and biomedical uses using root extract from the Arachis hypogaea (groundnut) plant. The procedure involves the phytochemicals in groundnut root extracts reducing the silver ions (Ag+) in the silver salt solution. When evaluated using UV-Vis spectrophotometry, specific Surface Plasmon Resonance(SPR) absorption peaks between 411 nm and 430 nm were found, confirming the production of AgNPs. FTIR examination revealed the presence of various functional groups, including carboxylic acid OH stretch, C=C alkene, and C-Br, with peaks at 3294.2 cm-1, 1635.64 cm-1, and 686.66 cm-1, respectively, with sizes ranging from 20 to 80 nm and a spherical form. The AgNPs incorporated into adhesive fabric bandage demonstrated excellent antibacterial activity against E.coli, S.aureus that typically cause infections and hinder wound healing.
