Summary:The Castilian legendaries or flores sanctorum printed in the sixteenth century reproduce a history of the battle of Las Navas de Tolosa whose origin is in a Medieval Latin text preserved in the “Office of the Feast of the Holy Cross” of the Cistercian Lectionary of Las Huelgas. This study analyzes the genesis and transmission of this history, as well as joining the Castilian legendary and possible authorship.
