Description
Summary:Ambidextrous leadership drives organizational success by balancing innovation and efficiency in the technology industry. However, many firms struggle to adapt leadership strategies in ways that prevent efficiency demands from constraining innovation. Existing literature offers limited insights into how technology firms develop such adaptability amid competitive pressures. This review examines the role of ambidextrous leadership in fostering innovation and operational efficiency through a qualitative thematic analysis of peer-reviewed studies published between 2015 and 2025. Sources were drawn from Google Scholar, Scopus, Web of Science, SpringerLink, and JSTOR. Findings reveal that adaptive leadership is critical for navigating uncertainty and sustaining performance. Technologies such as AI and automation enhance operational efficiency, while innovation is supported by a culture of continuous learning, experimentation, and knowledge sharing, as demonstrated by firms like Google and Tesla. Strategic resource allocation also emerged as essential in balancing core operations with exploratory initiatives. However, challenges remain in aligning leadership culture with organizational values, distributing resources effectively, and evaluating outcomes. The review concludes that ambidextrous leadership is vital for managing the tension between innovation and efficiency, offering practical insights for technology firms and a foundation for future research into how emerging technologies shape adaptive leadership.
