| description | Lichen scrofulosorum also known as tuberculosis cutis lichenoides is a rare tuberculoid that is usually seen in children or young adults presenting as a lichenoid eruption of minute papules. It is an important marker of occult tuberculosis, which may not be detected otherwise. Neck swellings can be divided into midline swellings and lateral neck swellings. The common swellings are lymph node swellings, salivary gland enlargement, thyroid enlargement, and branchial cysts. Cutaneous tuberculosis is a rare presentation of extrapulmonary tuberculosis with various clinical manifestations. We report a case of cervical tubercular lymphadenopathy with lichen scrofulosorum in an adolescent female. She was started on DOTS I (Directly Observed Treatment, Short-course) category treatment and topical drugs for skin lesions and discharged. She was called for regular follow-up on a monthly basis, responding well to antitubercular therapy along with clearance of skin lesions. On her second follow-up, she was relieved from skin lesions and swelling had subsided. |
