| description | Aneurysmal bone cysts (ABC) are expansile, multicystic, nonneoplastic lesions of bone, most commonly affecting vertebral column and long bones. It is rare in orbit. A young lady presented to us with pain and swelling over the left side of face and left lower lid since 3 days. Based on clinical findings of a tender, tense, cystic lesion in inferior temporal anterior orbit, causing upward displacement of globe and having overlying indurated skin, a provisional diagnosis of orbital abscess was made. CT and MRI imaging and intraoperative findings proved it to be an isolated aneurysmal bone cyst of the orbit. Surgical excision is the treatment of choice. Curettage, cryotherapy and radiotherapy have been tried with good response. |
