Summary:New archaeological materials from the Trans-Urals allow us to outline new research perspectives in the study of the Cherkaskul culture. Cherkaskul culture occupied a central position within the vast Andronoid community of the XVII–XV centuries BC. The formation of culture took place within the forest-steppe landscapes of the eastern slopes of the Middle Urals. It happened due to the interaction of main Andronovo (Fedorovo) impulse and multicultural groups of the local population, which are represented, besides other aspects, by monuments of the Koptyakov culture. The drift into the steppe zone was characteristic for the later stages of cultural development. The main area of the Cherkaskul culture included a zone of copper-ore deposits of the Ural mining and metallurgical region. These features allow us to consider the Cherkaskul culture as the main supplier of metal to the ore-free areas. The specifics of tools made up of metal products of the Derbeden type.
