Description
Summary:On July 15, 2024, China issued the “Action Plan for the Low-Carbon Transformation of Coal Power (2024–2027)'' (hereinafter referred to as the “New Policy”). New Policy emphasizes that in order to achieve the 2025 and 2027 coal power carbon reduction targets, low-carbon transformation and construction must be implemented on relevant projects within the next three years. The New Policy is set to redefine its energy landscape. The primary objective of the New Policy is to reduce carbon emissions from fossil fuels; however, the implemented measures inadvertently have repercussions on the bioenergy sector. New Policy could strain local biomass supplies but will likely boost the bioenergy sector with government support, promoting a sustainable energy future.
