Description
Summary:The purpose of the article is to highlight the social support provided to internally displaced persons residing in the Chernivtsi Regional Center for Social-Psychological Assistance. Through theoretical and empirical research methods, the essence of the concept of internally displaced person has been elucidated, particularly as it is interpreted in legislation. The social support and assistance provided to internally displaced persons residing within the territory of the Regional Communal Institution “Chernivtsi Regional Center for Social- Psychological Assistance” are highlighted. Depending on their family status, they can reside free of charge in various types of rooms available in the institution. In addition to free communal services, the state provides them with food products, medical supplies, essential goods, and so on. At the beginning of the war, displaced persons received only basic services at the Center, such as accommodation, meals, and essential items. Currently, the spectrum of services provided to internally displaced persons is very broad, encompassing a variety of types of assistance. In addition to the government, various public and religious organizations, as well as individual citizens, are involved in providing these services. In particular, activities are conducted for the staff and residents of the institution aimed at preventing and combating violence, providing psychosocial support, organizing training sessions, workshops, and individual psychological consultations on various issues. Leisure activities for adults and children are also arranged, and hot meals are delivered to the places where internally displaced persons reside compactly. Non-governmental organizations have also contributed to improving the living conditions of the Center’s residents. With their support, various repair works have been carried out in residential rooms, kitchens, bathrooms, and so on. The institution has established and actively involves the community of displaced persons in the activities of the public organization “Dopomoha ta Nadiia/Help and Hope”, whose members are exclusively internally displaced individuals. The center also cares for individuals with special needs, including persons with disabilities, elderly persons with limited mobility, people living with HIV/AIDS, and individuals struggling with drug or alcohol addiction.
