Description
Summary:The rich off-shore wind resources can be exploited to build wind farms with larger installed capacity, which has shown great potential to develop hydrogen energy storage applications. Power transmission and hydrogen production are the two ways to develop and utilize offshore wind power. Firstly in this paper, a life-cycle cost model for offshore wind power transmission is established. Secondly, the energy efficiency calculation process of the proton exchange membrane (PEM) electrolyzer was derived. Based on the "power-efficiency" characteristic model of the PEM electrolyzer, the hydrogen production yield was assessed, and the life-cycle cost model of the off-shore wind power hydrogen production project was formulated. Finally, case studies are conducted to evaluate the economic benefits of these two approaches respectively.
