Description
Summary:Glycidyl methacrylate(GMA) was grafted onto hydrogenated nitrile rubber(HNBR) by melt grafting during processing, the relationship between amount of GMA and active reaction temperature of the modified system was investigated, the grafting ratio and gel content of the modified HNBR were quantitatively analyzed, and the mechanical properties and oil resistance of the modified HNBR composites were also studied. The results showed that GMA was successfully grafted onto HNBR. With the increase of GMA amount, the grafting ratio increased gradually, but the gel content also increased accordingly. When the amount of GMA added was not more than 10 phr(by mass), with the increase of GMA grafting ratio, the glass transition temperature of HNBR composite did not change much, modulus at 100% increased, the tensile strength decreased, and the oil resistance improved. The infrared spectroscopy quantitative analysis method for grafting ratio of modified HNBR was efficient, simple, and reliable.
