Description
Summary:The main purpose of this paper is to identify selected elements of Socratic paideia in Megarian thought. We assume that the philosophy of education was an integral part of the entire Megarian school. Thus, in the first part, we will introduce Socratic education as such, drawing attention to selected elements whose echoes we will be able to find in Megarian fragments. In the second part, we will analyze these elements and the philosophy of education directly in the textual evidence. In the final part we will ask whether we can speak of a Megarian philosophy of education and whether such a paideia represented a continuity with the Socratic way of education as we find it in other Socratic authors.
