Description
Summary:The article «Reshaping the colonialism of power and builiding the Nation-State in Latin America» deals with the transformation of the colonial paradigm forged during the 19th century. The concept «colonialism of power» provided by Anibal Quijano will be use in an axial perspective to explain the social processes conceived since the 16th century. As far as we are concerned, we will offer the concept of «colonialism of the do» to develop the debates about the social historical dynamic in Latin America. The emergence of Nation States in Latin America was combined with the world-system logic as well as with the endogenous conflicts of the different societies. The idea of citizen was conceived according to the ontological settings of the yesteryear metropolis. From this aspect, the «colonialism of the do» plays a very important part in the creation of the Nation-States in Latin America.
