Summary: | This text seeks to reflect on the way in which political caricature captured the ultimate reality of the concept «press» throughout the 19th century in Spain, as well as the relevance that, as a fundamental contemporary term, it acquired at that time. A study framed in the culture of the visual is proposed to understand how the press was defined, based on the political satire of the time, in its visual and graphic discourse. Starting from the relevance of the caricature as an iconographic resource in the 1800s, as well as the importance that the press gained in the public space and in the Spanish political reality of the moment, the focus of attention is placed on the image as a further historiographical tool. for historical studies and research. |
