Description
Summary:Fibrous hamartoma of infancy (FHI) is an uncommon, benign tumor that typically presents as a poorly defined, superficial soft-tissue mass in children under 2 years of age. Although FHI lesions generally have benign histological characteristics, misdiagnosis is frequent due to limited clinical awareness and the rarity of the condition. The preferred treatment is complete excision, which generally leads to an excellent prognosis. A definitive diagnosis is made through histopathological analysis. Given the nonspecific clinical presentation, further diagnostic tests are essential to rule out malignant conditions. We report a rare case of FHI in a 2-year-old female child who presented to the surgery department with swelling in the left axilla.
