Summary: | The recent discovery of a small set of prehispanic Peruvian ceramics in the storage area of the musée Carnavalet, which might be linked to the scientific material brought by Alcide d’Orbigny from his long expedition to South America (1826-1833), put us back on a track we had abandoned for a long time. Simultaneously, the finding of a variety of documents stored in the National Archives helps contextualize this naturalist’s ethnographic collections and sheds new light on their nature and their fate. |
