| Summary: | Short renal vessels are occasionally encountered during renal vascular anastomosis in kidney transplantation and pose a technical challenge due to difficulty in reconstructive anastomosis of vascular graft. Only a few case reports are described in the literature about short, thin-walled renal vein, especially in the right renal vein or due to technical aspects like a dissection of the vein wall due to various technical issues needing repeated trimming of the vein ultimately leading to short renal vein. This may need interposition of Dacron vascular graft between donor renal vein and recipient external iliac vein. Here, we report a successful renal vein reconstruction using a Dacron graft for awareness of transplant surgeons about such clinical experience. |
