Description
Summary:Coverage oflarge soft tissue defects around the elbow is a difficult problem. Available literature on various pedicled Haps for elbow defects was reviewed. Two cases are being reported, where subaxillalY flap was used to replace the extensive scar, around the elbow. In the first case, the scar was situated over the flexor aspect of the elbow and in the other case, it was over the extensor aspect of the elbow. No flap necrosis was seen in either of the cases. The flaps were non-bulky, non-hairy and the colour match was excellent. The position of immobilization was well tolerated by the patient. We feel that, ipsilateral subaxillary flap is an ideal choice among various pedicled flaps for extensive elbow defects.
