Description
Summary:The productivity performance of 14 alfalfa cultivars in subtropical region of China was evaluated by using a synthetic evaluation model based on six main indexes of alfalfa including fresh forage yield, plant height, tillering number, root length, leaf/stem ratio, and crude protein content. The results showed that the cultivar ‘WL-323HQ’ not only earned the highest score, but also had relatively good comprehensive productivity performance, indicating that it was suitable for both spreading and planting in subtropical region of China. The order of weight of six indexes in the synthetic evaluation model was: plant height> crude protein content> tillering number> root length> leaf/stem ratio> fresh forage yield.
