description In the context of Vietnam's rapidly aging population, this study investigates the impact of ageism on job performance with the mediating role of occupational self-efficacy and the moderating role of social support. Using the Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) method to test data of 395 employees aged 40 and above at Vietnam Southeast based Logistics Service Providers (LSP), the study finds out the mechanism of ageism structures affecting occupational self-efficacy and the relationship between them and job performance as well as ways to minimize the impact of ageism on workplace occupational self-efficacy. The results show that self-perceived age-based metastereotypes from older employees contribute to perceived age bias, occupational self-efficacy, and job performance, in addition to the significant impact of organizational age-based metastereotypes, and social support is a solution for older employees to the negative impact of ageism in the workplace. Thereby, the research proposes some implications for LSP and its employees to minimize the impact of ageism to improve work efficiency.
