By focusing on two examples of 12th and 13th centuries verse romances (Erec and Enide by Chrétien de Troyes and Le Roman de la rose ou de Guillaume de Dole by Jean Renart), this paper offers a reflection on the role of rhythmic variation in the making of the romances’ continuity. |
