description We propose to show that the troubadour rouergat Daudé de Pradas (…1208-ca 1243) is the author of two of the three coblas that the manuscript tradition designates as the most appreciated : Dos gratz conquer hom ab un do (PC 461, 98) and the cobla dobla D'home fol e desconoissen (PC 461, 86). Taken up both in the Breviari d'Amor, these moralizing poems have as their matrix two successive passages (v. 372-392 and 393-407) in the treatise of Daudé de Prades on the Four Cardinal Virtues (an enormously amplified translation of Martin de Braga). Along the way, we discuss the dating of the two coblas, which we propose to locate between 1220 and ca 1243. It is thus confirmed that after his entry into the cathedral chapter of Rodez in 1214, Daudé de Prades did not give up writing lirical textes. His success in the art of the short form is one of the elements that lead us to reconsider the place he has hitherto been granted in medieval Romance literature.
