Summary:In several passages of his commentary on Aristotle's physics Thomas Aquinas polemizes against Averroes concerning issues such as the nature and the value of some kinds of argumentation in Aristotle. We find here a different understanding of the epistemological conditions to think about the chr(38)quot;apodicitychr(38)quot; of a demonstration, and also about the value of the so called chr(38)quot;probable argumentschr(38)quot;. It is suggested that the search of the chr(38)quot;intentio Aristotelischr(38)quot; (a method commom both to Averroes and Thomas Aquinas) remains in each case conditionned by the conception itself of the historical hermeneutics and scientific methodology
