Summary:Tourism imaginaries are not rooted only in spectacular “must-see” attractions. They also founded in the realm of small cultural objects. This is proved by the prevalence of anecdotes in tourism mediation devices. These anecdotes seem inessential and yet they fully contribute to the construction of a fundamental regime of authenticity. How should we understand the dual status of anecdotes ? What are the challenges faced when institututing cultural “truth” through tiny anecdotal objects ?
