| Summary: | Background. Distinctive features of polymer layered composite materials are the anisotropy of the mechanical properties of the entire material and each of its layers. Materials and methods. This leads to a complication of the design process, which is due to the need to determine the effective elastic characteristics of the polymer layered composite material, taking into account its structure. The aim of the work is to evaluate the existing methods for calculating the effective elastic properties of polymer-metal composites based on a nylon matrix and stainless steel reinforcement by comparing the calculation results obtained by different methods. Results. The study found that all engineering constants are consistent and further mesh refinement does not make sense. Conclusions. Poisson's ratio obtained on the mesh is positive, while the values obtained by other methods are negative. This allows us to conclude that the mesh used is not detailed enough. |
