Description
Summary:Solanum jabrense is an endemic species of Brazil, which occurs in high-altitude swamps in the Northeast, associated with rocky environments, exclusively in the states of Ceará, Paraíba, Pernambuco and Bahia. In previous studies, its pharmacological potential was demonstrated given the presence of flavonoids and steroid glycosides. In this work, three steroidal glycosides were isolated from the aerial part of S. jabrense, foliumin A and (22S,23R,25R)-3β,23-dihydroxyspirost-5-en-26-one 3-O-{α-L-rhamnopyranosyl-(1→2)-[α-L-rhamnopyranosyl-(1→4)]-β-D glucopyranoside}, a rare and a new saponin, respectively, in addition to an already known alkaloid, solamargine, all being the first record for the species. All structures were elucidated by spectroscopic data analysis (1D, 2D nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and high-resolution mass spectrometry (HRMS)) combined with polarimeter and infrared.
