description There are two ways a narrator can convey the subject’s relationship with the world of objects: the mimetic or the fantastic. This work aims to explore the metamorphic process by examining the modalities of how change is portrayed in some fantasy stories. We will look at how these stories describe the process of metamorphosis, how they express the physical or mental phases of change, in what way they qualify as metamorphic and we examine in which instances authors turn to dehumanizing descriptions, especially two authors, Maurice Carême and Marcel Thiry. The goal of the analysis is to revisit the relationship between fiction their work depict and the reality to which they refer.
