| Summary: | The essential (ḏātī) nature of the soul's attachment to the body is one of the innovative and new views expressed by Mullā Ṣadrā. Considering that the views of philosophers such as Plato, Aristotle and Ibn Sīnā are incomplete, he expressed his innovative theory, namely, "the physical nature of the human soul." Among the consequences of this theory is the essential attachment of the soul to the body, emphasized by Mullā Ṣadrā. In fact, based on this point, he tried to consider the famous definition of the soul as its true definition while showing the shortcomings of the peripatetic (Mašāʾī) perspective. Mullā Ṣadrā raised two objections against the Peripatetic philosophers: (1) the incorrectness of combining an abstract being with a material being; and (2) immutability in the nature of the soul. ʿAllāmih Ṭabāṭabāʾī tried to answer the two objections with a critical view. In this article, the author aims to show the shortcomings of ʿAllāmih Ṭabāṭabāʾī's point of view by using the analytical-comparative method, while presenting and explaining in detail the views of Mullā Ṣadrā and the criticisms of ʿAllāmih Ṭabāṭabāʾī. |
