Summary:The complexes Me3SiN3AlMe3 and Me3GeN3GaMe3 are formed at low temperatures by reaction of the corresponding trimethyl-elementazides with the trimethylmetals of Al and Ga. At elevated temperatures the complexes decompose, whereby the species [Me2MN3]3 were obtained. [Me2InN3]3 was also prepared by an analogous route. The vibrational spectra of the trimeric azides with M = Ga, In were recorded and assigned.
