| description | This study investigated the influence of solid angle variations and target material properties on the energy spectrum as detected by sodium iodide thallium-activated (NaI(Tl)) scintillation detectors. Using Cobalt-60 (60Co) as a radiation source, the solid angle and thickness of the intervening materials (aluminum and lead) were systematically altered. The results showed a 15% decrease in the net area and a 20% decrease in the gross area with increasing solid angle. The energy resolution declined by 10% and the peak-to- valley ratio deteriorated by 25% at wider angles. These findings provide crucial insights into optimizing scintillation detection se- tups for improved accuracy in radiation measurements, which is essential for applications in medical imaging, industrial radiogra- phy, and nuclear physics. |
