Description
Summary:Entrustable professional activities (EPAs) play a defining role in the making of a competent medical professional by providing a structured framework for the process of teaching–learning and assessment. Mere training students in the domain of professionalism will not aid us in the attainment of the intended learning outcomes unless these teaching–learning activities are equally supported with comprehensive assessments. The process of assessment of professionalism among medical students using EPA frameworks has been linked with multiple challenges. In conclusion, professionalism has been recognized as one of the core competencies that a medical student must acquire. However, multiple challenges have been identified, and thus the need of the hour is to adopt a multisectoral approach to overcome them. This calls for the need to encourage research work in the domain of assessment of professionalism and the need for faculty development programs to improve assessments across institutions.
