| description | In recent years, the conceptual understanding of multiple sclerosis (MS) has evolved significantly, accompanied by advances in diagnostic and therapeutic strategies. This review article highlights recent progress in MS diagnostics and treatment. Particular emphasis is placed on biomarker-based diagnostics and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) as essential tools for diagnosis and disease monitoring. Therapeutic approaches are discussed in relation to specific MS phenotypes, and innovative future directions are outlined.
**Zusammenfassung**
In den letzten Jahren haben sich das konzeptionelle Verständnis der Multiplen Sklerose (MS) und damit auch die diagnostischen und therapeutischen Möglichkeiten weiterentwickelt. Die nachfolgende Übersichtsarbeit beleuchtet die Fortschritte in der Diagnostik und Therapie der MS. Zentrale Themen sind dabei die Biomarker-basierte Diagnostik und die bildgebende Diagnostik mittels Magnetresonanztomographie als Voraussetzung für die Diagnosestellung einer MS sowie zum Monitoring des Erkrankungsverlaufs. Therapiekonzepte werden in Abhängigkeit von der jeweiligen Verlaufsform der MS diskutiert und innovative, zukünftige Ansatzpunkte vorgestellt.
