| Summary: | The purpose of this study is to compare the content of Surah Yusuf between Tafsir Al-Tabari and Tafsir Ibn Kathir. These two tafsirs were chosen because they fall under the commentators' preferred category of tafsir bil mathur, or Tafsir Tahlili. However, there is an element of difference between these two interpretations, particularly with regards to Israiliyyat found in surah Yusuf. Some examples of Israiliyyat have been included in this study. This matter is seen as important to be clarified because many stories circulating in the community are based on Israiliyyat compared to the stories stated in Surah Yusuf. This study is a bibliographic study by collecting data and information either through books or articles that are analyzed using the descriptive. As a result, maintaining the veracity of the stories in the Qur'an approach depends greatly on the ongoing study of Israiliyyat. This is to help the community to understand the story that is genuinely based on the Quran and prevent confusion while seeking guidance and lessons if there is an element of Israiliyyat. |
