| Summary: | While governments share the major responsibility for providing health care in this country, they cannot do it alone. Health care workers and patients need to be involved to develop the best system. We, as physicians, must provide agencies with the science behind the best medicine and methods to care for patients. In addition, we have a responsibility to advocate for changes to give our patients the best service. This needs to be done in partnership with individuals using the health care system, who too often are not consulted. We must insist that our health care system be studied with rigorous scientific methods to ensure that the correct answers are obtained. After all, that is what we are trained to do. |
