| description | The present study analyzes acoustic quality as a comfort factor that is rarely considered in housing design and is a key factor in urban habitability and residents’ wellbeing. A high-rise building in San Miguel de Tucumán, Argentina, was assessed. Environmental noise measurements in various indoor and outdoor spaces showed levels of ‒mainly‒ urban and vehicle noise that exceed the limits recommended by IRAM norms and World Health Organization (WHO) guidelines, thus affecting inhabitants’ acoustic comfort. Besides, Reverberation Time measurements suggested high values in enclosures. Measurements were complemented with closed surveys that showed how noise interferes in inhabitants’ daily activities such as sleeping and studying. It is concluded that the case study does not comply with minimum recommended comfort values. |
