Summary:The light load efficiency of a LLC converter is very low, owing to the traditional PFM control strategy. In order to make the output voltage constant at light load, the working frequency will be increased. So, the turn-off loss will rise and the efficiency will be reduced. With the loss analysis of the LLC converter, it can draw the curves of the efficiency versus the load. It proposed a new burst PWM control strategy to replace the traditional PFM control in this paper. The working frequency is fixed in the full load range. The output voltage stays constant by adjusting the width of the burst pulse. The prototype experimental results show that, with the burst PWM control and working in the best frequency point, the light load efficiency is improved significantly and the full load efficiency is optimal as well.
